I Googled "cheese ball snowman" and found this little guy at BettyCrocker.com. I absolutely fell in love with this adorably festive cheese ball!
(Just in case you didn't know, I am a cheese ball fanatic... I can hardly wait to make [and eat] them every year at the holidays!)
The original recipe called for quite a few items that I didn't have on hand or couldn't easily buy, SO, I improvised. :o)
Here is the recipe I used to make my cream cheese Mr. Frosty.
3 packages lite cream cheese, softened
2 C shredded Cheddar cheese
2 TBSP minced onions
1 TBSP basil
salt & pepper
dash of garlic
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
1 carton (4 oz) whipped cream cheese
Mix all ingredients EXCEPT THE WHIPPED CREAM CHEESE together in a bowl. Cover and chill for several hours. Shape cream cheese mixture into 2 balls, one larger for the body, one smaller for the head. Form a snowman from the two balls. NOW GET OUT THE WHIPPED CREAM CHEESE. :o) Use it to "frost" your snowman to give him a smooth look. To garnish Mr. Frosty, I used:
stick pretzels: arms
black olives: eyes, buttons
baby carrot (cut down to size): nose
parsley & dried cranberries: wreath
I never could come up with anything to make his cute little scarf (that was edible, anyway). The recipe suggested radicchio or carrot ribbon... our small town grocery stores don't carry fancy things like that. :o) If you think of something creative, let me know!!
Oh, and the cute Mr. Frosty shown in the picture above is not MY Mr. Frosty. Mine was deliciously adorable and I'm sure you'd just love to see his photo (before our hungry church friends began eating him). Unfortunately, my digital camera batteries were dead and I couldn't take his picture. Why didn't I just recharge the batteries? Well, I can't find my battery charger. Please, please do NOT read any of my posts on organization right now. I'll be organized again soon... I promise!!
For now, I'm going to go get what's left of Mr. Frost out of the fridge and have a snack. With wheat crackers, of course. ;o)

11 Responses to "Festive Mr. Frosty"This little snowman is so cute and creative! I'm already trying to figure out whether I should make it for the ladies ornament exchange at church, or maybe the family Christmas gathering. Thanks for sharing!
By the way, cheese balls were a MUST during my growing up years. My mom made many different varieties, all of them delicious. Mine are more simple, but a treat all the same.
This looks like a very easy recipe! I've always wanted to make a cheese-ball-snowman! They look so cute in all the pictures I've seen.
It looks like this is the year!
Yum, yum! We love cheese; I don't know if we're going to be able to do anything like this but thanks for sharing it with us! It's making me hungry...
Oh, and Kristy, how do you get the comment form like this on your blog? If it's the drop-down comment thing then I've tried it but for some reason it doesn't come up on my blog. Have any suggestions? If you feel so inclined, I'd love for you to stop by my blog www.mydelightfuldiary.blogspsot.com and you can leave a comment about it there. Thanks!
What a neat idea!! I've never seen anything like it.
Carrot ribbon is made by cutting a carrot in half the long way and peeling a long strip with your potato peeler.

Fruit roll-ups make good edible scarves!
This is such a cute way to serve cheese ball. My family is impressed with my regular cheese ball. Wait til next Christmas when I pull one of Mr. Snowman out!
